About The Artistic Process
I begin this multifaceted process by taking extensive digital images of each place
within the park that will be commemorated. Various parts and pieces of these images
are used to create the final rendition in digital painting programs and imaging
programs. The oval format was chosen because its design quality is reminiscent of
patterns and motifs found in the architecture within the park. Once this process is
complete, it is time to make this work of art a reality.
For our signature gold series, the surface is first coated entirely with red oxide
paint, followed by a layer of gold leaf. It is important during the application
of the gold leaf to allow flecks of the oxide to show. These flecks will contribute an
enormous amount to the feeling of antiquity in the final work.
The next stage involves a secret printmaking process that allows the digital painting
to be entirely melded with the gold leaf and oxide. Once the image has been made one
with the golden surface, it is coated in a gloss varnish which dries to a still, tranquil
finish that clarifies the image and heightens the brilliance of gold in this one-of-a-kind
piece of art.
